Nothing beats apple crisp warm from the oven this time of year (it was november when I had found this recipe at jkgann.com). For my money, you can't beat Granny Smith's, but let your local produce be your guide to getting the freshest!
Ingredients
------For Filling------
6 Tart apples
1/2 c Sugar
2 T Flour
------For Topping------
1/2 c Rolled oats
1/2 c Flour
1/3 c Melted butter
1/3 c Brown sugar
1 ts Cinnamon
Directions
For filling:
Butter a 9 x 13 baking dish. Peel and core 6 apples. Cut into thin slices. Place in a baking dish. Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons flour over the apples.
For Topping:
Combine the topping ingredients until crumbly. Sprinkle topping evenly over filling. Bake about 35-40 minutes at 350°F until the fruit is soft and bubbly and the topping is brown. Serve warm.
Yield:
12 Servings.
